Day 47 - to Brattleboro, VT

We left Troy, NY as a group. The multi mile hill at 4 miles into the ride really broke up the group. Today had a lot of climbing, so it was great to see everyone find their pace. It was far too hot and humid to push hard.

I stopped and took pictures today to cut the heat. At one point I stopped halfway up the biggest climb and watched the pretty stream bound down the rocks. It made the fact that I was drenched in sweat feel a bit nicer. I even picked a flower and put it on my stem.

Again I found myself noting changes in the architecture of the area. There were piles of logs, maple syrup stand, and so much greenery.. just like you might imagine. Unfortunately my phone cameras got really smudged with all the heat and sweating so I didn’t capture as many pictures as I would’ve liked but that’s ok. Here are the ones I got.

While it was really a tough ride, it was so pretty. I really wish I could ride here when it is cooler. I’ve always wanted to ride Vermont in the fall. I put it so high on my “wish list” when I was with Backroads, but they always sent me to Italy peak season. Maybe one day I’ll come back and ride in the fall.

Tomorrow is the last long ride of the whole trip! It will be almost a repeat of today’s ride with heat, elevation, and longer distance. So excited to see Sheri, Chris, Grace, & Eve tomorrow! Then to the beach the next day!!

Total mileage to-date:

3,343.2 mi

Total elevation gain to-date:

107,436 ft
